This is the oldest course in Limerick, having been founded by the Scottish Black Watch Regiment who introduced the local gentry to the game in 1891. The very mature course features tree-lined fairways leading to excellent greens. The third and tenth par fours are a particular challenge.

The seasoned golfer will find the bunkers protecting the green on the eighteenth a challenge and the up-hill twelfth; a par four, which doglegs right onto a plateau-fairway ending with a sloping green, a test of putting skill. Those who view golf as ‘a good walk spoiled’ will find most pleasure at the thirteenth’s tee, which has perhaps the best view of the course....
