A St. Bridget ( Not to be confused with the saint of the same name from Kildare) founded a monastery or convent here in the 6th century which was burned in 1094. A small church with antae and a (partly reconstructed) flat-headed doorway to which a chancel was added. The original church is Early Christian in date, but the chancel was added possibly as late as the 16th century. The round-headed doorway in the south wall is alter than the original church. Inside the church is a cross-base with a small cross which was removed there from the housing estate 100 yards south-west of the church....

A small stone oratory, rectangular in plan, with a south door and two east windows one above the other. it is most unusual in that it is one of the few remaining examples of a stone-roofed medieval church; its stone roof is supported by an interior pointed vault. it was considerably restored in 1888....
